Getting started
A free, global question-and-answer and discussion community. You can ask about anything lawful — technology, careers, or an everyday problem — and answer questions in areas you know well.
No. Every published post is readable without signing in, and search engines index it. You need an account to post, comment, rate or bookmark.
Confirming your email is what separates real members from throwaway accounts. Until you confirm it you can read everything, but you cannot post or comment.
Asking, answering, commenting, rating and building your profile are free. The only paid item on the site is the optional verification badge.
Yes. You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account, and if you are under 18 you need the consent of a parent or guardian. Accounts we find to belong to children under 13 are closed and the data deleted.
Yes. Creating an account or using the site means you accept the terms of use, the community rules and the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Posting
Say what you are trying to do, what you tried, and what happened instead. Pick the right post type and category, and add tags for the specific technologies or topics involved — that is how the people who know the answer find you.
A Question has a correct answer and can be marked solved. A Discussion is for opinions and experience where no single answer is right. Choosing correctly sets the right expectation for readers.
Yes, up to five images per post or comment, two megabytes each. They are converted automatically for fast loading. Screenshots of errors are usually more useful than describing them — but blur every name, address, token, key and account number first.
No. What you typed is kept and restored the next time you open the window. Images are not kept, so you will need to attach those again.
You can edit and delete your own posts and comments at any time. Deleting is permanent — the content is removed, not hidden. It does not, however, reach copies that other people, search engines or archiving services have already made.
It tells everyone who arrives later that the thread reached a real answer. Only the person who wrote the post can mark it solved, and it can be unmarked if the problem comes back.
Whichever you are comfortable with. When you create a post you can also set the language you would prefer answers in, so readers know before they reply.
You do. By posting you give us a licence to store, display, translate, reformat and distribute it as part of running and promoting the site, and you give other members the right to read and quote it under the rules. Section 6 of the terms of use sets out the exact scope.
What is not allowed
No. Digibitig is publicly readable by anyone of any age and we run no age verification, so age-restricted subjects are prohibited outright rather than restricted. That covers promoting, recommending, advertising, reviewing, comparing brands, explaining how to obtain or produce them, and glamorising their use.
Prohibited. Firearms, parts, magazines, ammunition, explosives and their components, conversion or suppression devices, blueprints and 3D-printable files, weapons made for attack, and any instruction on manufacturing, modifying, obtaining or using them are all forbidden, including in the form of a question.
Narcotics, psychotropic substances, precursors, synthetic and designer drugs, doping agents, poisons and prescription-only medicines are prohibited — including sourcing, dosing, production, extraction, concealment and sale. General medical questions are fine, but the answers you get are not medical advice.
Betting, casinos, lotteries, referral links to gambling sites, pyramid and multi-level schemes, signal groups, pump-and-dump coordination and anything promising guaranteed returns are prohibited. The underlying technology can be discussed; the promotion and the solicitation cannot.
A neutral factual, historical, legal, medical or harm-reduction mention may be allowed if it contains no brands, no purchase sources, no instructions and no encouragement. Moderators decide whether a given post crosses that line, and their assessment is the one that applies.
Adult and sexual content, hate speech, threats, harassment and doxxing, terrorism and extremism, self-harm promotion, fraud and money laundering, counterfeit and stolen goods, forged documents, trafficking of people, organs or wildlife, malware, hacked data and cracked software, spam, advertising, affiliate and SEO links, impersonation, deepfakes, and anything else unlawful. Section 9 of the terms of use has the full list.
Zero tolerance. The account is closed permanently and without notice, the material is preserved as evidence, and the matter is reported to the competent authorities. There is no appeal.
Your account and profile
Your work experience, education, certifications, skills, and the languages you speak with your actual level in each. This is the context other members use to weigh your answers. Do not publish your home address, identity numbers or anything you would not want a stranger to read.
It confirms that the person behind the account is who the profile says they are. It is optional, it involves a one-time payment and an identity check, and it grants no extra permissions, authority or credibility — it only signals that an identity was confirmed. It is not an endorsement of anyone competence.
They are encrypted and used only to complete the check. They are never shown on your profile or to other members, and they are deleted once the retention period for the check has passed.
The fee pays for the check being carried out, not for a particular outcome. If the documents are illegible, inconsistent or cannot be confirmed, the application is refused and the fee is not returned, because the work was done. You may apply again with better documents.
Yes, from the language switcher. Your choice is remembered, and the address of each page carries the language, so links you share open in the language you were reading.
From your account settings. Deletion is permanent and your personal data is removed rather than hidden. Content you posted may stay on the site in anonymised form so that threads other members contributed to remain readable, and some records are kept where the law requires it. Read the privacy page before you do it.
No. One account per person. Extra accounts used to evade a restriction, inflate ratings or back yourself up in an argument are removed, and the main account goes with them.
Community and moderation
Posts are removed when they break the community rules — most often advertising, abuse, prohibited subjects, or content posted by someone who does not hold the rights to it. Check the rules page; if you believe it was a mistake, use the contact page within 14 days and explain why.
No. Content goes live immediately and is reviewed afterwards, on report or on our own initiative. We are under no obligation to monitor everything, and the absence of a removal is not approval of anything.
Use the report button on the post or comment and say what is wrong with it. Reports go to moderators with the reason attached. Please do not reply to provocation in the thread — it makes the thread worse and it does not speed anything up.
You can see the status of reports you filed. We do not disclose what action was taken against another member account, because that is their personal data.
Yes. Blocking hides that member content from you and stops them interacting with yours.
Repeated rule-breaking, harassment, spam, prohibited content, and attempts to abuse or attack the platform. Serious cases are acted on immediately and without warning. A banned account can still read the site but cannot post or comment.
You may appeal once, through the contact page, within 14 days. We review it, but we are not obliged to restore content or reinstate an account, and we do not always explain our reasoning in detail — doing so would teach people how to work around the checks.
Legal, copyright and data
No. Members are responsible for their own content. We host it; we do not write, verify or endorse it. When we are properly notified of unlawful content we act on it, and that is the extent of our role.
Treat it as one informed opinion and nothing more. Nothing on the site is legal, medical, financial, tax, engineering or safety advice, no professional relationship is created, and you act on what you read at your own risk. Test code before you run it in production.
Send a copyright complaint through the contact page identifying the work, the exact address of the infringing post, your contact details, and a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We remove confirmed infringements and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
Not without our written permission. Automated crawling beyond what robots.txt allows, bulk collection, and use of the content as training data are prohibited and may be pursued.
Your account and profile details, your content, technical records such as IP address and sign-in times, and verification data if you applied for the badge. The privacy policy explains each category, why it is held and for how long.
Write to us from the email address registered to the account, through the contact page. We answer within the period the applicable law allows, after confirming that the request really comes from you.
We comply with lawful requests from competent authorities, and we may disclose or preserve data where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to investigate fraud or abuse, or to prevent harm to someone. We may also report suspected crimes on our own initiative.
Notifications and technical
When someone comments on your post, replies to your comment, or when something changes on a report you filed. Notifications appear live while you have the site open.
Use the contact page and describe what you did, what you expected, and what happened. A screenshot and the address of the page help a great deal.
Report it privately through the contact page and give us a reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else. Do not test against live accounts or data that are not yours — unauthorised testing is a breach of the terms regardless of intent.
No. The service is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it up and we keep backups, but we give no uptime guarantee and we cannot promise that content is recoverable. Keep your own copy of anything important.
